Shoot 1
This shoot has moved away from the similar techniques of Bill Wadmans slow shutter speed project of what represents abnormality and has looked at human abnormalities in disfigurement and facial shape based on the works of Wes Naman
This shoot is based on the work of Wes Naman and his 'Rubber Band' and 'Invisible Tape' projects. The aim of this shoot was to make the model look like her facial feaures were defored and abnormal. I believe a lot of the images were successful in this shoot in the sense that Mollie did make her face look abnoral and deformed. Looking back, the shoot itself is slightly under exposed but when choosing the best images to use for editing and overlaying (based on the work of mixed media artist Januz Miralles) I simply edited brightness and exposure in photoshop.
The best images for this shoot were done using a sheet of glass and asking Mollie to press her face on it. This meant mollies face was squashed against a transparent surface meaning it was easy to photograph and I was able to capture distribution of Mollies skin and facial features in a way that look comical and abnormal.
Below is a link to the experimentation of this shoot where I have used overlaying techniques based on other work of Januz Miralles and Wes Naman combined.
I believe this image is one of my most successful images. The original shoot was slightly under exposed. I simply altered the exposure on photoshop and increased the saturation slightly. The lighting has also worked well for a portrait photo as there's no harsh light and the light is even.

For the subject of 'abnormal', I thought this image was a very good representation. However this photo isn't totally sharp and looking closer, I can see it's slightly blurry. However, I am happy with the exposure levels and contrast and saturation levels and it makes for a good portrait image as the light is even and not harsh on the model anywhere.
This, in my opinion is a fantastic portrait photograph and it also represents the theme well too. The exposure of the photo is just right and is neither under or over exposed. Even the positioning of the models head filling the photograph is well done. I am also happy with the saturation of this photograph.
